Blueberry-Banana Smoothie Bowl
This recipe is for all the people out there that need to curb some of their sweet cravings or want to get a little creative in the kitchen some days. There are four necessary ingredients for this recipe; plus a hand full of totally optional add-ons that enhance this bowl of yumminess to its’ peak point of completely satisfying the ultimate sweet-tooth.
It is currently winter and I still make this blueberry-banana smoothie bowl for myself at least three times a week (if not more). And do not even get me started when it is summer time, I will actually have a bowl everyday, no doubt.
·1/2 cup of Frozen blueberries*
·1 medium Frozen banana*
·1 TBS of Flax meal
·1 scoop of Vanilla protein powder (optional)*
·1/2 cup Dairy-free milk of choice (I prefer unsweetened vanilla almond milk for anyone wondering)
Toppings (optional and delicious):
·Granola (I enjoy a good coconut granola or classic granola)
·More berries (more blueberries are totally okay and usually my go to)
·Coconut flakes or shredded flakes
1. Add smoothie base ingredients (solid ingredients first, then top off with the milk).
2. Blend to the consistency desired.
3. Pour into bowl or glass.
4. Add toppings if wanted.
5. Eat up!
*Frozen fruit works a lot better to create a more creamy (similar to ice-cream) texture, so try to use frozen, if not fresh fruit works as well, but toss in a couple ice cubes to maintain some coldness of the smoothie.
*Change the amount of blueberries or bananas to achieve your desired taste, I prefer more of a blueberry taste, so I add more blueberries.
*Add protein powder if you would like to up the calories and have more protein in your smoothie bowl.
*Toppings again are totally optional and will only allow you experiment and diversify your smoothie from time to time.
